“Stars in Roses” is a collaborative effort between Morghie and Steph. It is the coming of age story of a young transgender teenager coming to terms with who they are, and where they fit into this chaotic world.
Van Burke is a closeted transgender teen just trying to figure out life. Between a rough living situation, and the bullies at school, Van has enough to deal with. As if being a teenager isn’t hard enough- Van has recently been diagnosed with type 1 diabetes!
Although it seems like the worst thing to happen- this diagnosis leads to meeting some people who make life a little less terrible and open up a world of questions relating to Van’s past. Is Van doomed to a streak of bad luck? Or is everything about to change for the better?
Stars in Roses is a comic about finding your place in the world and learning to love yourself.
Stars in Roses includes a diverse cast of characters and deals with sensitive topics like mental illness, self-harm, abuse, and gender dysphoria. Due to the sensitive topics involved, we have done and will continue to do extensive research. Some of these themes are based on personal experiences. Others are topics we feel are important to address. Our aim is to present this fictional story in a way that is both informative, and interesting while showing sensitivity to these difficult topics.
Recommended for a teen and up audience due to the nature of the topics in later chapters.

The Creators
Morghie
Also known as Cherry, Morghie is the illustrator, and one of the writers for Stars in Roses. Morghie uses She/Her pronouns and currently resides in Canada. She has a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Visual Arts, with a focus on painting. She enjoys drawing comics, painting, writing angsty stories, illustrating, and teaching art classes. She also loves animals and lives with two cats.
Steph
Also known as Seabun, Steph is one of the writers and the colourist of Stars in Roses. Steph uses She/They pronouns and currently resides in California. They have a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry with a focus on pre-medicine, and is currently working towards getting into Medical school. In their spare time, they enjoy writing, sewing, and exploring other art mediums. They love telling stories, are a bad pun appreciator, and do their best to make people smile.
